The Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) is a $27.5 million state of the art facility for Victoria’s highest achieving students. Adjacent to ʵ, selected students can study first year university courses as part of their VCE.
On Tuesday 18 October 2022, the facility was officially opened by the Minister for Education, Hon. James Merlino M.P. with students beginning Term One of 2023.
Representatives from the ʵ Foundation were invited to the opening and were treated to a tour of the Centre including presentations highlighting how the CHES program will foster a new generation of leaders, problem solvers and innovators in Victoria.
Formerly the ʵ Gifted Academy, CHES is a bridge between high school and university.
This project was made possible through the ʵ Foundation purchasing land at 669 Chapel St, South Yarra.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin nation as the traditional owners of this land on which we learn, and their enduring connections to Country. ʵ is grateful for the ongoing leadership of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities in Australian education. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. We are thankful that we can develop respect and understanding for cultural diversity, and enrich our appreciation of Indigenous history and culture.
